Description
Westside Waldorf School in Pacific Palisades California is seeking a Math Track Teacher Grades 4-8 with classroom teaching experience for the 2019/2020 school year, beginning August 25, 2019 through June 2020. Teaching duties entail planning, implementing, and delivering math instruction for daily Math Track classes in close collaboration with the Class Teachers. Duties will also include providing one Test Prep class per week to Grade 7. Current classes have 9-12 students.

Candidates must be willing to develop their knowledge of Waldorf education, particularly their understanding of a grade appropriate repertoire. The ideal candidate brings warmth, joy and strong teaching skills, along with a willingness to cooperate and work as a team, with all teachers in the school.

Westside Waldorf School serves students from Nursery-8th Grade. Along with strong academics, our students experience a rich program which includes Spanish, Japanese, Handwork, Woodwork, Instrumental and Choral Music, Games and Movement. We also provide After-School Sports and an enriched Aftercare Program.

Job Overview

The Math Track teacher plans, implements, and delivers math instruction for grades 4 - 8 in close collaboration with the Class Teachers. The duties and responsibilities of the position include:

Creates lesson plans thoroughly and prepares needed materials for an effective lesson consistently

Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies based on the diverse needs of all the students that engage all students

Differentiates instruction effectively to meet the individual needs of all the students

Develops and administers a variety of assessments to measure students’ growth towards goals and to monitor students’ mastery of the content standards

Analyzes informal and formal student assessment results and uses this information to drive and inform instruction

Models and teaches the values of the school

Manages and maximizes instructional time successfully

Participates actively in professional development sessions and assignments

Communicates and collaborates professionally with teammates, parents, and community members

Writes reports on students with clear formative comments and targets as to how to improve work by defined deadlines given, and provides regular feedback on assessments

Completes and updates necessary paperwork to maintain files and student records

Implements classroom management techniques to create a nurturing and structured classroom environment

Maintains high expectations for students’ academic achievement and conduct

Values and draws upon students’ experiences and backgrounds

Adheres to school policies, procedures, and deadlines

Maintains a safe learning environment

Models professionalism through dress

Is available to students and families for questions or concerns

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning

Minimum 5 years teaching experience

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Teaching experience (Waldorf preferred), minimum 5 years

Must pass Livescan, TB test, Physical exam
